II. Government Schools
Government Education and Training International (GETI) Tasmania is a registered school education provider to international students with CRICOS Provider Code 03352G. All Tasmanian government schools accepting international students do so under this CRICOS registration.
As of current, GETI’s Primary school program is only open to international students on Study Tours and for kids who are dependents of parents or guardians who are in Australia for work or study.
GETI’s Junior and Senior High School (Year 7 – 10 and Year 11 – 12) are available to international students on Student visa (subclass 500).
Good news – You only have to show basic understanding of the English language for entry into Tasmanian Government Schools. There is no minimum English proficiency requirement and you don’t need to provide English proficiency test result.
You won’t be required to attend an English preparation course either. You go straight to your main study course.
As an international student you will be provided English language instructions tailored around your current level of proficiency. This tuition is called English as an Additional Language (EAL) and it will be given to you concurrently (or at the same time) with your main course, as long as you require.
